Assessment in online education during the COVID-19 pandemic: from the perspective of university instructors

Educational activities, including assessment have continued globally in the form of emergency remote education since start COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose this study is to explore university instructors’ opinions about methods online during Case design was employed line with research questions. Data were collected from 199 instructors working at different universities Turkey via a questionnaire developed by researchers. Content analysis applied analyze data. results revealed that most frequently homework, multiple-choice tests, presentations, open-ended questions, and projects. Instructors encountered problems such as inadequate level ICT access, reliability issues, infrastructural inadequacy institutions, institutional enforcement, requiring more effort for instructor, difficulties courses, rapid transition education. Instructors’ preferences toward change revert traditional well increase student engagement integrate ICT. reveal inform practitioners methods, possible problems, may help others adapt quickly assessment.
